The dude was an idiot to be sure, but somehow he lost a  CHUNK of skin and other stuff from his forehead because of the fall.
What they cut out of this montage, just to keep it sweet and innocent, is the images of him coming out to the front gate of the building he crashed in, in a daze, touching his head and pulling away said chunk, while his buddies watch from the other side and almost shit themselves from shock.
