In the evening of Sunday, 25 October, the Latvian media reported on the fall of the meteorite at 18.30 near the city Mazsalaca Valmiera District crater width 20 and depth of 10 meters. It was reported that a celestial body supposedly crashed to the ground next to a residential home, but no injuries were reported.
However, in the crater was found burnt nitrate and sulfur, and the fragments of the meteorite, which should have been left after the collision of a celestial body on the ground, could not be found.  As stated Geologist North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve republic Dainis Ozols, crater had been due. people, and a fire caused by an artificial mixture of ammonium nitrate with sulfur.
“Latvia has become interesting, and not because we have a crisis, we are hard and difficult, and the fact. there was something interesting and creative “- said Janis Sprogis. An object from light years away finds its way to earth with a thud that blasted a 30-foot crater in a Latvian hillside. The fiery object set a field ablaze when it crashed on the outskirts of Mazsalaca, a small town in the north of the country, on Sunday afternoon. Or did it? Some experts are guessing it may be a hoax. You be the judge.
