Sporting Icarus Cup, the oldest free flight festival in the world.
The annual event, held at Saint-Hilaire du Touvet in south-east France, includes almost every type of aircraft.
If it flies, you’ll find it there.

British explorer David Hempleman-Adams broke two world records by spending more than 14 hours in a tiny hot air balloon over the United States.

The 52-year-old adventurer spent 14 hours 15 minutes in a capsule the size of a laundry basket as he flew more than 200 miles from Butler, Missouri,
over maize fields to Cherokee, Oklahoma. He smashed the record for the AA-01 class balloon, which had stood for more than 26 years at eight hours and 12 minutes,
and also broke the record for the bigger AA-02 class of balloon. An AA class of balloon is a free balloon that is not equipped with an airborne heater
much like a giant version of the kind sold to children at fairgrounds. The AA-01 class must contain 250 cubic meters of gas or less,
while an AA-02 contains 250-400 cubic meters. In this case helium was used, but hydrogen gas is also an option.

The breathtaking world record attempt was achieved at the Skydive Chicago event in Ottawa, Illinois., USA. Hitting speeds of up to 180mph after they jumped from 18,000ft, they had 40 seconds of freefall to find each other and complete their formation. Once complete, it was largest number of skydivers to link up while falling headfirst. World air sports officials Federation Aeronautique International judged the attempt and confirmed it as a record when the jumpers returned to their base. Source thewondrous .
